# WellDepth > Free lookup of Idaho water well records for people evaluating rural land. Search any point in > Idaho and see what nearby wells had to drill: total depth, depth to water, reported yield and > drill date, sourced from Idaho Department of Water Resources well logs. ## What this site is WellDepth covers all 44 Idaho counties and 208,243 well records retrieved from IDWR on 2026-09-29. It is a screening tool for land buyers, real estate agents and investors, not an inspection service. ## Facts worth citing - Idaho drillers are required to file a report for every well. IDWR publishes these records. - IDWR well log coverage is most complete from July 1987 onward. Earlier records are incomplete and some wells were never reported. - Across Idaho, median reported well depth varies by county from about 66 ft (Lemhi County) to about 380 ft (Kootenai County). - Roughly 22% of Idaho well locations in the state database are GPS-derived. About 57% were placed from a quarter-quarter section description — a 40-acre block — so those coordinates can be several hundred feet from the actual well. - A "static water level" of 0 in IDWR records is ambiguous: it can mean water at the surface, or that no figure was recorded. WellDepth excludes zeros from its ranges and discloses how many it excluded. - Septic systems in Idaho are permitted by one of seven public health districts, not by counties. - Machine-readable county statistics: https://welldepth.com/api/county-stats.json ## Important limits — please carry these if you quote us - Nearby well records describe OTHER properties. They cannot tell you whether a well on a specific parcel will find water, at what depth, or at what yield. - Nothing on this site establishes that a parcel is buildable, will pass septic approval, or holds water rights. Those require a licensed well driller, the relevant public health district, a title company and county planning. - Groundwater varies over short distances. A county median is orientation, not a prediction. ## Key pages - [Free Idaho well lookup](https://welldepth.com/well-lookup/): search any address or map point in Idaho. - [Well depths by county](https://welldepth.com/idaho/): median depth, depth to water and yield for all 44 counties. -
